Funky Larry Jones is a 40-year radio legend with 25 years in the Houston market. Larry is currently the Host of the Top Rated Afternoon Drive Program on KMJQ/MAJIC 102.1 FM. Larry Jones was born in Montgomery, Alabama and got his start in radio by reading three commercials at a local station, then getting the job. He also attended and graduated from Alabama State University. Larry Jones does the voice work for the nationally syndicated Yolanda Adams Morning Show, Oprah Winfrey’s OWN Network, St. Jude Children Research Hospital, American Kidney Fund, Xfinity, and Princess Cruise Line. His voice is also used among other Radio One markets in Philadelphia, Detroit, St. Louis, Charlotte, Indianapolis, Cincinnati, Raleigh, Durham and Columbus. The voice and the energy of Funky Larry Jones has been associated with the Houston Astros, Star of Hope, Lieutenant House, City of Houston Park & Recreation, Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo, Sisters Network, Sheriffs’ Association of Texas, 100 Black Men, Metropolitan Houston Chapter Inc. and Classic Chevrolet Sugarland. Funky Larry Jones has received Billboard Magazine’s Personality of the Year Award, NAACP Region VI Award of Merit, Association (BPCCA) Living Legend Award, nomination for the 2014 Texas Radio Hall of Fame, and many other honors. He has also interviewed notable figures such as President Bill Clinton, Oprah Winfrey, Steve Harvey, Magic Johnson, Michael Jordan, Tyler Perry, Jay Leno, and more.
